Role Purpose

Provide specialist support for learners with specific learning difficulties (SpLD) such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, ADHD and Asperger’s syndrome across a range of courses.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver one‑to‑one support through multi‑sensory, cumulative literacy programmes.
  • Screen and conduct diagnostic interviews for SpLD.
  • Prepare and adapt flexible learning materials to meet individual needs.
  • Complete exam access arrangements assessments in accordance with JCQ guidelines and process applications in the JCQ Access arrangement online system.
  • Assess and monitor progress, providing regular feedback to learners and staff.

Qualifications and Experience

  • First degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., DTLLS, PGCE) or training in progress.
  • Post‑graduate Diploma/Certificate in Specific Learning Difficulties (AMBDA) or working towards it preferred.
  • Experience supporting learners with Asperger’s syndrome and other SpLDs.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to inclusive practice.
