Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join our expanding Employer Partnerships and Work Placement team as a Learner Industry Placement Officer. The role will involve the coordination and management of learner placements, ensuring students are matched to appropriate placement opportunities provided by the Employer Partnership Team. The successful candidate will support learners throughout their placement journey, including placement preparation, monitoring and ongoing support, whilst maintaining effective relationships with employers, curriculum teams and external partners.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage student placements, ensuring learners are matched to appropriate opportunities.
- Act as the main point of contact for learners throughout the placement process, providing ongoing support and guidance from initial matching through to successful completion.
- Ensure a minimum of three workplace observations for T Level learners are completed across the duration of the placement programme, and assess placement diaries/workbooks where required.
- Ensure all placement documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner, maintaining comprehensive records on systems such as Grofar, and ensuring learner placement hours, targets and programme requirements are achieved within agreed timelines.
- Monitor learner attendance and progress on placement (weekly or block release as appropriate), ensuring learners remain on track and addressing any issues promptly.
- Ensure learners are fully prepared for placement by supporting the completion of all pre‑placement requirements (e.g. DBS checks, care certificates, CSCS cards, food hygiene) and ensuring they receive a comprehensive induction from both the College and the employer.
Qualifications and Experience
- Holds a relevant qualification.
- Has substantial experience of supporting young people or learners within an education, employability or structured support environment.
- Holds English & Maths GCSE or equivalent.
- Is an effective communicator.
- Has strong administrative skills, well‑organised, able to keep accurate and easily retrievable records.
- Holds a current driving licence and has use of a car.
- IT literate, experience of using MS Office software and databases.
