The group is currently home to a population of over 6,500 full‑time students with around 2,000 adult learners and students on higher education programmes. We are looking for a Creative Arts Technician/Demonstrator to join our Creative Arts Department to be responsible for the provision of technical support and instructing the staff and students in the Creative Arts Department. We’re seeking a passionate and skilled Creative Arts Technician to support our dynamic arts department at Stafford College. This hands‑on role involves maintaining and preparing equipment and materials across disciplines such as fine art, photography, textiles, and digital media. You’ll work closely with staff and students to ensure studios and workshops are safe, inspiring, and fully equipped for creative exploration.
A key part of the role includes supporting the preparation and installation of our annual art exhibition – an exciting showcase of student creativity that transforms our campus into a vibrant gallery space. From curating displays to coordinating logistics, you’ll play a vital role in bringing this event to life.
Ideal candidates will have a strong technical background, a flair for problem‑solving, and a genuine enthusiasm for the arts and education. The post holder will undertake such duties as required of a Creative Arts Technician/Demonstrator in relation to providing technical support to all activities within the Centre. To maintain and repair items of equipment and to give technical support and instruction to staff and students on a range of equipment.
To be successful you will need to hold a relevant qualification and preferably studied up to graduate level in Art and Design. Have a good basic level of education including literacy and numeracy to GCSE or equivalent, with the ability to adopt positive working relationships. Be able to demonstrate that you are a team player who is able to work effectively as part of a team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Prepare, maintain, and organise materials, tools, and equipment for practical sessions across creative disciplines.
- Provide technical support to students and staff during lessons and independent studio work.
- Ensure all workshop and studio areas are kept safe, clean, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
- Assist in the setup and takedown of exhibitions, including the annual art show.
- Monitor and manage stock levels, ordering supplies as needed.
- Support digital processes such as printing, scanning, and basic editing using relevant software.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and liaise with external technicians when necessary.
- Contribute to the creative environment by encouraging safe experimentation and innovation.
- Is qualified to at least A Level or equivalent and preferably has studied up to graduate level in Art and Design.
- Holds English and Maths GCSE or equivalent.
