Newbury College is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Progression and Academic Support Coach to join our inclusive learning support team. This vital role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the educational journey of students with learning difficulties and disabilities across a range of curriculum areas.

As a PASC, you will provide tailored academic and personal support to learners in mainstream settings, including in-class assistance, off-campus activities, and personal care. You will work collaboratively with course leaders and the PASC Team Leader to implement individual Support Plans and EHCPs, ensuring students receive the guidance and encouragement they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver in-class support across theory and practical subjects, including English and Maths
  • Assist with literacy, numeracy, note-taking, and adapting learning materials
  • Support students outside the classroom, including safeguarding referrals and counselling access
  • Accompany learners on work experience placements and educational trips
  • Provide personal care where required
  • Act as a reader or scribe during examinations
  • Maintain accurate records including Support Plans, Action Plans, and EHCP documentation
  • Promote pastoral support and follow up on attendance and punctuality
  • Participate in enrichment activities, departmental meetings, and learner voice initiatives

  • Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE Grade C/4 or above)
  • Experience supporting individuals with mild to moderate learning difficulties and/or disabilities
  • Strong communication skills and ability to relate to diverse learners
