Newbury College is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Electrical Installation Evening Lecturer to join our Construction department. This role offers the opportunity to teach our adult provision and electrical apprenticeships, supporting learners at different stages of their electrical career within a modern, purpose‑built Construction Centre.

Our Construction provision focuses on careers, not just courses. We work closely with employers and industry partners to ensure learners develop the technical skills, practical competence and professional behaviours required for employment in the electrical and wider construction industries. Alongside electrical installation, the department also delivers plumbing, carpentry and multi‑trade programmes, creating a collaborative and industry‑focused environment.

The Role:

The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality theoretical and practical teaching across Electrical Installation programmes, including Level 2 and Level 3 adult courses and apprenticeship provision. Teaching will cover key electrical principles and industry‑standard practices, supporting learners from entry level through to advanced technical understanding.

Key areas of delivery include:

  • Health and safety in building services engineering
  • Electrical science and principles
  • Electrical installations and wiring systems
  • Inspection, testing and fault finding
  • Design, environmental legislation and industry compliance

In addition to teaching, the role includes assessing learner work, conducting workplace assessments for apprentices, contributing to internal verification processes and maintaining accurate course and learner records in line with awarding body and college requirements. You will also support learner progress, provide guidance where needed and work closely with colleagues, employers and support services.

What We’re Looking For:

Applicants should have strong industry experience and a passion for developing others. The essential requirements for this role include:

  • A Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation or equivalent
  • Assessor and Internal Verifier qualifications
  • Industry experience within Electrical Installation
  • Experience of teaching or working in an educational or training environment
  • A teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one with college support
  • Experience within further education, adult education or apprenticeship delivery is desirable, along with mentoring or coaching experience

Why Join Newbury College?

This role offers:

  • A purpose‑built Construction Centre with industry‑standard facilities
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment
  • The opportunity to teach a mix of full‑time students, adult learners and apprentices
  • Strong employer links and a curriculum shaped by real industry needs
  • Ongoing professional development and support
