Neway International are seeking Grounds Maintenance Operatives to join our client Worcester City Council. Worcester City Council's Bereavement & Green Spaces service maintains high-quality public environments across multiple sites including KGV, Astwood, St John's and Perdiswell. The team ensures that grounds, gardens and crematorium spaces remain safe, tidy, respectful and visually appealing for the public.
This is a hands-on, outdoor role carrying out grounds maintenance across several council sites. You will support the team in maintaining lawns, gardens and landscaped areas, ensuring they remain tidy, attractive and well-kept. The role includes travelling between sites, transporting tools and equipment, and working in public-facing environments. This is a temporary position to support increased seasonal demand. Candidates will be required to attend an onsite interview and complete a driver assessment before starting.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out grounds maintenance including mowing, hedge trimming, weeding, pruning and planting.
- Maintain the appearance and functionality of outdoor spaces across crematorium and green space sites.
- Travel between locations (KGV, Astwood, St John's, Perdiswell) transporting tools, equipment and crew.
- Ensure safe working practices and maintain high standards of presentation at all times.
- Work professionally in public-facing environments.
- Support the wider team with general manual labour tasks as required.
- Full UK driving licence (maximum 6 points).
- Ability to pass a driver assessment on a council vehicle.
- DBS required.
- Towing licence advantageous.
- Experience in grounds maintenance, gardening or outdoor manual labour desirable.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently or as part of a team.
