Responsibilities
- Complete statutory assessments under the Children Act 1989 and Children & Families Act 2014
- Assess needs, risks, strengths, and required services for children with disabilities and their families
- Develop and review Child in Need plans, short breaks packages, and contribute to EHCP processes
- Lead safeguarding activity, including CP enquiries, reports, conferences, and core groups
- Undertake direct work using communication methods suited to children's needs
- Support parents/carers with guidance, interventions, and practical support
- Coordinate multi-agency packages with health, education, housing, and voluntary partners
- Manage a varied caseload and maintain high-quality, timely case records
- Prepare analytical reports for panels, meetings, and court; attend court when required
- Maintain SWE standards, engage in CPD, supervision, and service development
Qualifications
- Qualified Social Worker with SWE registration
- Strong experience in assessment, care planning, and safeguarding
- Skilled in communicating with children with additional needs
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and report-writing ability
- Resilient, empathetic, and confident managing complex cases
Desirable
- Experience in CWD services, SEND/EHCP processes, autism/LD training
