Responsibilities

  • Complete statutory assessments under the Children Act 1989 and Children & Families Act 2014
  • Assess needs, risks, strengths, and required services for children with disabilities and their families
  • Develop and review Child in Need plans, short breaks packages, and contribute to EHCP processes
  • Lead safeguarding activity, including CP enquiries, reports, conferences, and core groups
  • Undertake direct work using communication methods suited to children's needs
  • Support parents/carers with guidance, interventions, and practical support
  • Coordinate multi-agency packages with health, education, housing, and voluntary partners
  • Manage a varied caseload and maintain high-quality, timely case records
  • Prepare analytical reports for panels, meetings, and court; attend court when required
  • Maintain SWE standards, engage in CPD, supervision, and service development

Qualifications

  • Qualified Social Worker with SWE registration
  • Strong experience in assessment, care planning, and safeguarding
  • Skilled in communicating with children with additional needs
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and report-writing ability
  • Resilient, empathetic, and confident managing complex cases

Desirable

  • Experience in CWD services, SEND/EHCP processes, autism/LD training

Additional Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS
  • Ability to travel locally
