Neway International are seeking an Income Officer to join our client based with London Borough of Sutton.

Location: Civic Offices

Hours: 36 hours per week

Start Date: 08/01/2026

Working Pattern: 09:00–17:00

About the Client

This role is required to cover a vacant position within the establishment and plays a key part in maintaining effective income management across the borough.

The Role

The Income Officer will be responsible for managing a caseload of rent accounts, supporting tenants to sustain their tenancies, and ensuring income is maximised in line with legislation, policy, and best practice. You will work proactively with residents, internal teams, and external partners to prevent arrears, resolve issues, and promote financial wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a designated caseload of rent and service charge accounts.
  • Monitor arrears, take appropriate recovery action, and maintain accurate records.
  • Engage with tenants to provide advice, support, and early intervention to prevent arrears escalation.
  • Work collaboratively with Housing colleagues, Welfare teams, and external agencies.
  • Prepare and present cases for legal action where required.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement within the Income team.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience in income management, housing, or a similar customer‑facing role.
  • Strong understanding of rent arrears processes and tenancy sustainment.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to manage challenging conversations professionally.
  • Ability to analyse data, maintain accurate records, and work to deadlines.
  • Knowledge of housing legislation and welfare benefits is desirable.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and ability to provide required compliance documents (CV, proof of address, confidentiality agreement, declaration of interest, RTW documentation).
