Job Opportunity: Independent Safeguarding & Reviewing Officer (ISRO) – Children’s Social Care

Location: 31 Chester Street, Wrexham, LL13 8BG

Rate: PAYE £38.00/hr | Umbrella/Ltd £49.88/hr

Contract: ongoing

Full-time (37 hrs/week)

Responsibilities

  • Chair Child Protection Conferences, Looked After Children Reviews, and strategy meetings.
  • Monitor and scrutinise safeguarding plans and care plans to ensure statutory compliance.
  • Provide expert advice and challenge poor practice through escalation and reporting.
  • Lead inter-agency collaboration and contribute to service development.
  • Mentor and assess social work students and professionals.
  • Deliver training and contribute to audits and performance reporting.

About You

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Care Wales.
  • Proven experience in chairing complex multi-agency safeguarding meetings.
  • In-depth knowledge of child protection legislation and safeguarding procedures.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
  • Able to travel across the borough and work flexibly to meet service demands.

Desirable

  • Post-qualifying awards in child protection or practice teaching.
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, and delivering training.
  • Understanding of Welsh language and culture (not essential).
