Neway International are seeking Triage and Prevention Officers to join our client based with the London Borough of Bexley.

Location: Civic Offices, 2 Watling Street, Bexleyheath, Kent, DA6 7AT

Hours: 36 per week

Start Date: 13 April 2026

Duration: ongoing

Employment Type: Temporary

PAYE: £19.37 per hour

Limited/Umbrella: £25.22 per hour

Work Pattern: 2–3 days per week in the office.

About the Client: Bexley’s Housing Services team delivers statutory homelessness functions and provides advice, prevention and early intervention support to residents in housing need. The service works within a busy, high‑demand environment, ensuring compliance with housing legislation and delivering effective, customer‑focused outcomes.

The Role: The Triage and Prevention Officer will provide comprehensive housing advice, options and statutory homelessness support to residents. The role requires strong legislative knowledge, excellent assessment skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload in a fast‑paced environment. The postholder will triage new approaches, prevent homelessness where possible, and ensure all statutory duties are met in line with the Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Act 2002 and associated case law and guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high‑quality housing advice, options and homelessness prevention support.
  • Triage new approaches and assess eligibility, priority need, intentionality and local connection.
  • Manage cases in line with statutory duties under Part VI and VII of the Housing Act 1996.
  • Produce clear, accurate case notes and decision‑making records.
  • Develop Personal Housing Plans and monitor progress with applicants.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, landlords, support agencies and external partners.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of legislation, case law and statutory guidance.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Strong, up‑to‑date knowledge of homelessness legislation, case law and Code of Guidance.
  • Experience delivering housing advice, options and statutory homelessness services.
  • Ability to manage a busy caseload and work effectively in a high‑pressure environment.
  • Excellent communication, assessment and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to produce clear, defensible written work.
