Neway International are seeking an Occupational Therapist (Housing) – Social Care Qualified to join our client based with Caerphilly County Borough Council.
Location: Ty Penallta, Penallta House, Tredomen Business Park, Hengoed, CF82 7PG
Hours: 37 per week
Start date: 02 February 2026
Duration: 20 weeks (initially likely to be extended)
Work pattern: Flexible – to be discussed with the candidate
Pay rates: PAYE £27.14 per hour / Ltd & Umbrella £35.81 per hour

The Role: The Occupational Therapist (Housing) will provide specialist assessments and recommendations to support residents with disabilities, mobility needs or health‑related housing challenges. Working within the Private Sector Housing team, you will assess properties, identify required adaptations and ensure recommendations align with legislation, best practice and the council’s policies. This role supports short‑term service demand and requires a qualified, experienced Occupational Therapist with strong housing‑related knowledge. You will work collaboratively with surveyors, contractors, social care teams and residents to ensure timely, effective and person‑centred outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out functional assessments to identify housing‑related needs for adults, children and families.
- Recommend appropriate adaptations, equipment and property modifications to support safe, independent living.
- Work closely with Housing Services, surveyors and contractors to progress adaptation works.
- Provide clear, evidence‑based clinical reasoning to support decisions and recommendations.
- Ensure all assessments and documentation comply with legislation, guidance and internal procedures.
- Support residents and families through the adaptation process, offering clear communication and professional advice.
