Neway are seeking a Grounds Operative to join our client based with Monmouthshire County Council.

Location: Monmouth Depot, Mitchel Troy, NP25 4HX

Start: 05 May 2026

The Role

You’ll support Waste & Street Services in maintaining safe, clean and sustainable public spaces across Monmouthshire. Working individually or as part of a team, you’ll carry out grounds maintenance across open spaces, verges, schools and contracted sites, with occasional support to Street Services (e.g. litter picking, fly‑tipping response).

Key Duties

  • Grass cutting using hand‑held and ride‑on equipment
  • Maintaining shrub beds, horticultural features and annual bedding
  • Sports pitch marking and basic landscaping
  • Litter picking, emptying bins and responding to fly‑tipping requests
  • Arboriculture tasks and cemetery duties (with training)
  • Daily vehicle checks and safe use of plant/machinery
  • Supporting emergency response (flooding, storms, snow clearance) when required

About You

  • Full, clean driving licence (HGV desirable but not essential)
  • Experience in grounds maintenance or outdoor manual work
  • Able to work safely, follow procedures and operate equipment correctly
  • Reliable, polite and able to work independently or in a team
  • Willing to work annualised hours, weekends, evenings and bank holidays on rota

Mon–Thu: 07:30–17:00
Fri: 07:30–15:00
