Neway International is seeking a committed Social Care Officer to join the Intake Team within Children & Young People’s Services at Vale of Glamorgan Council. This is a full‑time temporary role supporting children, young people, and families through high‑quality, person‑centred practice.

You will manage a varied caseload, undertake assessments, support safeguarding activity, and work directly with children and families under the guidance of your supervisor. This role is ideal for someone passionate about early intervention, multi‑agency working, and improving outcomes for vulnerable children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Caseload Management — Manage a caseload appropriate to the role and grade.
  • Direct Work — Provide high‑quality support to children, young people, and families/carers.
  • Assessments & Care Planning — Complete Assessments and Care & Support Plans in line with the Social Services & Well‑being (Wales) Act.
  • Safeguarding Support — Contribute to Child Protection case management under supervision.
  • Supervised Contact — Supervise contact between children and their families where required.
  • Emergency Duty Participation — Participate in emergency duty systems when appropriate.
  • Multi‑Agency Working — Work collaboratively with internal and external professionals.
  • Community Access — Promote access to community services to meet assessed needs.
  • Legislation & Policy Compliance — Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and procedures.
  • Record Keeping — Maintain accurate case records, including WCCIS.
  • Meetings & Reports — Attend meetings, reviews, and produce written reports as required.
  • Professional Development — Engage in supervision, training, and annual appraisal.
  • Team Contribution — Participate in team meetings and service improvement activity.
  • Resource Management — Use available resources flexibly and efficiently.
  • Health & Safety — Adhere to Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities policies.
