Neway International are seeking a Children’s Social Worker (All Wales Pledge) to join our client based with Vale of Glamorgan Council.

Location: Barry Docks, Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, CF63 4RT

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Start Date: 26 January 2026

Pay Rates: PAYE: ÂŁ28.15 per hour, Umbrella/Ltd: ÂŁ36.88 per hour

About The Client: Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Children & Young People’s Service provides high‑quality, relationship‑based support to young people across the region. The Fourteen Plus Team is a stable, well‑established service supporting:

  • Young people aged 14+ who are looked after
  • Homeless young people aged 16–18
  • Care leavers up to age 25

The team is committed to meaningful engagement, ensuring young people influence their own lives and help shape future services. Strong multi‑agency partnerships underpin their work, supporting young people to achieve independence and positive long‑term outcomes.

The Role: This role involves working directly with young people, their families and carers across all aspects of statutory social work. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload, undertake pathway planning, court work and multi‑agency collaboration. You will be based in Barry and will cover visits across the Vale of Glamorgan and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high‑quality social work support to young people aged 14–25.
  • Undertake pathway planning, assessments, reviews and court‑related work.
  • Support young people who are looked after, homeless or leaving care.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with young people to promote engagement and independence.
  • Work collaboratively with carers, families, Young Person Advisors and partner agencies.
  • Maintain accurate, timely case records in line with statutory requirements.
  • Contribute to service development and uphold All Wales Pledge standards.
  • Ensure practice aligns with Social Care Wales registration requirements.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Care Wales.
  • Experience working with adolescents, care leavers or looked‑after children.
  • Strong understanding of pathway planning, safeguarding and court processes.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a cohesive team.
  • Excellent communication, relationship‑building and report‑writing skills.
  • Willingness to travel across the Vale of Glamorgan and beyond for visits.
