We are looking for a friendly Housing Choice Advisor to join a busy and committed team. You will be responsible for assessing housing applications in accordance with the Council’s allocation scheme and relevant housing legislation, while delivering a responsive frontline service that offers clear and practical housing advice to our service users. You will review and update assessments as circumstances change, ensuring decisions remain accurate and fair. A key part of the job involves identifying vulnerable applicants, offering appropriate assistance, and signposting to specialist support services where needed. You will also contribute to the smooth running of the team by providing administrative support and maintaining an up‑to‑date understanding of housing law, policy developments, and best practice.
Qualifications: We are looking for someone with proven experience in providing housing advice to the public. You’ll have the ability to work confidently within established policies, procedures, and legislation. Strong communication skills are essential, including the tact, diplomacy, empathy, and patience needed to support a diverse range of applicants. The ideal person will be proficient in Microsoft Office, work effectively as part of a team, and demonstrate excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines.
