We’re putting more funding, care, and energy into our housing services to better serve our communities. We’re expanding our teams, strengthening our commitment to quality homes, and creating exciting new roles that offer the chance to make a real difference.

Whether you’re passionate about improving services, supporting tenants, or shaping the future of housing, you’ll be part of a team that’s driven by purpose, collaboration, and care. These roles are more than jobs – they’re opportunities to help build safer, stronger, and more connected communities.

Are you ready to take the reins of a vital service that keeps homes safe, functional, and ready for new tenants?

As our Empty Homes and Planned Repairs Manager you will work alongside our Housing Maintenance Manager to provide strategic direction and operational leadership across the Council’s Responsive Repairs and Voids service, focusing on Empty Homes and Planned Maintenance ensuring quality, value for money, and continuous improvement every step of the way.

In this dynamic role, you’ll:

  • Manage staff and assets delivering responsive repairs and voids
  • Attend tenant panel meetings to share KPIs and resolve service issues
  • Guide and support supervisors in their day-to-day operations
  • Collaborate with Housing Management and Asset Management teams to coordinate service delivery

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience managing building maintenance works and/or building workforces—ideally within the housing sector
  • A strong track record of strategic and operational leadership in an in-house Responsive Repairs and Voids service
  • HNC (or equivalent) in Housing or Building—or demonstrable experience managing a similar service
  • Daily access to a car (alternatives considered for candidates with a disability under the Equality Act 2010)

This is your opportunity to lead a service that truly matters where your expertise, energy, and vision will directly improve lives and communities.

We’re an ambitious, forward-thinking Council with strong values and a culture of doing our absolute best to serve our customers. We are proud of our organisational culture and receive positive feedback from our employees. We have a programme of internal activity to ensure that the voices of our employees are always heard and that they are kept informed on all Council activity and events. From roadshows to an annual award ceremony, from reviewing working arrangements to our Hug in a Mug initiative, it is incredibly important our employees are shown how valued they are and that they remain the beating heart of our workplace.

We offer:

  • Enrolment in the career average local government pension scheme.
  • A generous annual leave entitlement that increases with service.
  • Family-friendly benefits.
  • Lifestyle benefits platform.
  • Funded health cash plan.
  • Free car parking* (valid until 30 June 2026).
  • £10 a month gym membership at one of our four gyms in the district.
