About the Role

Lead the timely and accurate delivery of all finance-related activities within the region as the Group Manager (GM), Regional Finance. This includes monthly reporting on income, expenditure, balance sheet and cash flow management, and the design and preparation of regional budgets and forecasts. The GM Regional Finance will work closely with District Finance Management teams and the national Financial Planning and Analysis function to prepare financial and non-financial performance reports, provide decision support, and conduct variance analysis.

Manage and mentor the Regional Finance team ensuring that the team delivers accurate and timely broad based financial analysis and insights to all relevant HNZ functions, noting the matrix-based complexity that exists in current geographically based reporting structures. The Group Manager, Regional Finance will take a leadership role in ensuring the information needs of other functions are delivered from within within the region whether that is by way of direct or indirect resource management.

Importantly, the role involves overseeing payroll variance analysis and managing regional costing operations, insights and reporting to National timeframes. The role will work collaboratively with clinical and non clinical District leads to oversee and report on efficiency improvement measures.. The Group Manager, Regional Finance will also provide support to District Finance Management Teams, assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and business case preparation.

About you

You\’ll bring 10–15 years in senior financial management roles, with a deep understanding of financial principles and practices in large, complex environments. You have successfully led in public sector settings that operate under high levels of political and public scrutiny, demonstrating resilience and sound judgement.

Your leadership has included responsibility for people, budgets, forecasting, cost management, organisational risk, efficiency improvement and compliance at both function and business unit level. You\’re confident making decisions that balance strategic priorities with operational realities.

You hold Chartered Accountant status or equivalent membership of a professional accounting association.
