About this role

The Gateway Programme Coordinator is a key member of the Public Health Nursing Team within South Canterbury National Public Health Service and will work in collaboration with HSS clinical and service areas, along with professional colleagues in other government agencies. This role plays a key part in helping NPHS become a customer-focused, safety-conscious, high-quality, and professional organisation, driven by strong performance and dedicated to supporting the needs of our most vulnerable children and young people.

About the Team/Service/Location

Gateway is a comprehensive health assessment and education profile programme for children and young people engaged with the Ministry for Children, Oranga Tamariki, for care and protection reasons. The overall objective of the programme is to enhance the child or young person's physical, mental, educational and social well-being through the identification of unmet needs and referral to appropriate services to address these needs.

About you

  • To be our Gateway Programme Coordinator, you must have a current APC as a Registered Nurse and be experienced in child and youth health services.
  • You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an eye for detail along with a commitment for continuous quality improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment with exceptional time management skills.
  • Proven IT competency and experience using Patient Management Systems.
  • Full Driver's Licence.
  • Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action.
  • Strong clinical leadership skills acting as role model to those within the profession.
  • Excellent group facilitation skills with a history of a collaborative team approach.
  • Innovative and flexible with a positive and problem-solving approach to situations.
  • Hold a current authorisation as a whole-of-life vaccinator (desirable).
