Based in Te Waipounamu | Part-time | 8 hours per week

About the Role

As a Clinical Integrator, you will bring a primary or community care clinical lens to district service development and implementation. You will work closely with Clinical Advisors, regional clinical leaders, and commissioning teams to identify opportunities for improved patient flow, strengthen relationships across sectors, and support effective integration between hospital and community services. A typical week may include engaging with clinical leaders across PHOs, public health, community providers and HSS to identify system challenges, contributing clinical leadership into service redesign initiatives, and providing high-quality advice on improving equity and access. You will champion the voice of Māori, Pacific and priority communities in all system design, ensuring pathways are clinically sound, whānau-centred and workable within the South Canterbury district level.

About you

You will be a highly respected clinician who brings credibility, confidence, and strong system awareness to this leadership role. You are committed to improving equity and outcomes for whānau, and you understand the importance of strong relationships across the health system. You balance clinical insight with strategic thinking and are comfortable influencing change in complex environments.

  • A solid clinical foundation – a relevant tertiary medical qualification, current vocational registration (GP or NP), and a minimum of five years' clinical practice within Aotearoa's health system.
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership – at least two years in a role where you have led or contributed to service improvement, system change or new models of care.
  • Strong relationship-building skills – proven ability to collaborate with clinicians, PHOs, iwi, community providers, hospital services and commissioning teams to support integrated, whānau-centred care.
  • A firm commitment to equity and Te Tiriti o Waitangi – including experience partnering with Māori clinicians and communities, and confidence applying Te Tiriti principles in system and service design.
  • Strategic and systems thinking – the ability to interpret complex challenges, anticipate impacts, and provide credible clinical advice into planning, redesign, and business case development.
  • Excellent communication skills – capable of translating clinical and technical concepts into clear, meaningful information for diverse audiences including senior leaders, governance groups and community partners.
  • An improvement mindset – openness to new ideas, readiness to test and adapt approaches, and confidence to respectfully challenge the status quo.
  • A collaborative leadership style – grounded in humility, psychological safety, and modelling the values of Te Mauri o Rongo.
