Job Summary: The Engineering & Delivery Lead will have end-to-end view and ownership of products within the London Market Insurance Policy Lifecycle. This role is primarily responsible for product increments development, delivery, and support, providing overall direction and guidance to software engineering managers, software engineers, quality assurance engineers, and business systems analysts. The incumbent will drive software development across multiple teams and phases to ensure execution of project work plans, determining department priorities and ensuring software development & data management objectives are met.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • 10 to 15 years of related experience in software development & architecture design, including project management and business analysis.
  • Strong understanding of London Market Insurance Policy Lifecycle (Placement, Bind, Premium, Claims, Renewals etc.).
  • Must have worked on Core Systems involved in London Market Value chain such as ACORD, ECF, DDM etc.
  • Knowledge in Follow and Lead Models.
  • Significant management experience.
  • Prior experience in financial services, specifically insurance, would be highly beneficial.

Skills / Competencies:

  • Broad knowledge of software development techniques, processes, methods, and best practices.
  • Proficiency with various programming languages.
  • Knowledge of application test automation products, processes, and best practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of all assigned Systems, applications, technologies.
  • Proven experience and strong understanding of Agile development and conventional method and its application to company technology needs.
  • High level knowledge/expertise in databases development, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale business applications.
  • Strong strategic decision making & long-term planning abilities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, & consultative skills for effective collaboration with senior management and motivating teams.
  • Good general business acumen.
  • Thorough knowledge of relational database technologies such as Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge of non-relational database technologies such as Memcached, MongoDB, and Redis.
  • Experience with Insurance / Reinsurance Systems and Data.
  • High level knowledge/expertise of Front-end development such as: ReactJS, Webpack, HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap, jQuery, Accessibility and Responsive Layouts UI/UX development experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the strategic vision and roadmap for all Product(s) within their domain.
  • Capture and prioritize market and environmental trends, business strategies and objectives, and identify business benefits of alternative strategies.
  • Establish the contribution that technology can make to business objectives, conducting feasibility studies, producing high-level business models, and preparing business cases.
  • Ensure compliance between business strategies, enterprise transformation activities, and technology directions.
  • Responsible for effective and timely development of new and/or enhanced systems/technologies.
  • Monitor all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle and Production Support service levels, ensuring high-level technical support.
  • Work closely with customers, other IT managers, and management to identify and maximize opportunities to use technology.
  • Prepare business cases, including financial analyses of potential new technologies/systems/applications.
  • Oversee business analysis, development work, and quality assurance of projects for assigned systems/technologies.
  • Collaborate effectively at all levels to prepare strategic plans and ensure system requests align with company strategy.
  • Contribute to the development of information technology development standards, policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Continuously review technology needs relative to new technological developments and trends, staying abreast of the industry.
  • Participate in vendor/strategic partner evaluations and monitor relationships.
  • Prepare/manage department budget, including P&L forecasting, expenditures, contract negotiations, and invoice processing.
  • Lead and manage team through effective recruitment, training, performance management, and recognition.
