As Video Producer for On with Kara Swisher, you own the end-to-end video workflow from longform episodes to shortform social cuts. You’ll shape visuals, pacing, and storytelling, ensuring high production value for YouTube and social platforms. Responsibilities

  • Edit and produce longform episodes for YouTube with strong pacing and visuals across remote, in-studio, and hybrid formats
  • Create platform-native shortform content optimized for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts
  • Design scalable visual elements (motion graphics, captions, lower-thirds) aligned with show tone and platform
  • Manage and mentor freelance editors and designers to ensure brand consistency and timely delivery
  • Write and edit scripts in collaboration with hosts/show teams to shape visual content
  • Collaborate with editorial, social, and audience development teams to meet performance goals
  • Stay current on visual and social trends to inform team evolution
  • Assemble, refine, and package video in Descript and produce polished audio in Descript and Pro Tools
  • Lead the complete video editing workflow for each episode in Descript and handle multi-camera assembly
  • Record and remotely direct host intros ensuring consistent framing, lighting, and delivery
  • Prepare thumbnails, captions, on-screen text, and YouTube-optimized assets
  • Maintain efficient ingest-to-publish workflows for all video materials

Key requirements

  • 6-8+ years of digital video production experience, with editorial content for podcasts and social platforms
  • Proven ability to produce longform and shortform video, especially for talk-based formats
  • Strong editing expertise in Adobe Premiere
  • Motion design and graphics capabilities in After Effects or similar tools
  • Experience managing freelancers or vendors with clear creative direction
  • Excellent editorial instincts and news judgment
  • Collaborative, consultative working style to elevate visual presence
  • Deep understanding of video platform ecosystems (YouTube, TikTok, Reels) and performance drivers
