Position Overview

We are looking for a salaried GP to join our dedicated team.

The role involves a mix of acute and routine appointments, including pre‑booked and same‑day consultations, as well as duty doctor responsibilities for a minimum of two sessions per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mixed acute and routine appointments, pre‑booked and same‑day.
  • Duty doctor responsibilities for a minimum of two sessions per week.
  • Clinical administration: processing repeat prescriptions, reviewing and actioning lab reports, and managing correspondence.
  • Deliver high‑quality medical care in line with the primary care contract.
  • Assessment and management of patients from a physiological and psychological perspective, referring appropriately.
  • Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance.
  • Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately, providing emergency care where necessary.
  • Effective management of long‑term conditions.
  • Encourage patients to adopt health promotion strategies and apply principles of self‑care.
  • Process administrative tasks timely, including referrals and repeat prescription requests.
  • Review medications following NICE and local clinical guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with best practice, policy, and guidance.
  • Collaboratively share workload with equal participation across the practice.
  • Adhere to clinical guidelines and audit processes.
  • Support anticipatory care plans and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Accept delegated responsibility for specific QOF areas.
  • Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required.
  • Assist in clinical governance, training, and development activities.
  • Observe safeguarding policies for adults and children, and comply with current legislation.
  • Complete the appraisal process and revalidation to remain fit to practise.
  • Commit to self‑learning and foster a culture of ongoing professional development across the team.
  • Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies.
  • Promote collaborative working with all staff and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Occasionally carry out additional tasks as required, depending on workload and staffing levels.

Person Specification – Experience

  • Experience of working in General Practice or a comparable primary care setting.
  • Ability to manage a diverse clinical caseload safely and effectively.
  • Experience of working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Experience of using electronic patient record systems.
  • Experience of maintaining high standards of clinical record keeping.
  • Evidence of participation in clinical audit and quality improvement activities.
  • Experience of managing patients with long‑term conditions and complex healthcare needs.
  • Experience of using EMIS Web.
  • Experience of minor surgery and/or joint injections.
  • Experience of conducting clinical audits.
  • Experience of remote consulting via telephone consultations.

Qualifications

  • MBBS, MBCh B or equivalent primary medical qualification.
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise.
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant clinical speciality.
