Description of Job

Oakleigh Community Church is a vibrant charismatic evangelical church in North London, with a multicultural membership and a dynamic missional outlook, planted from St Barnabas Woodside Park 25 years ago. Our vision is to see God's upside-down Kingdom coming in North London as in heaven through a people living the way of Jesus. We are entering an exciting season of “going deep to go wide” - formation for multiplication, as we strengthen our church and prepare to move sustainably from one to two Sunday services.

We are looking for a Worship Pastor to help shape our worshipping life and, especially, to recruit, equip, pastor and multiply worship and production teams. This is not primarily a role for someone who wants to lead worship every Sunday: we are looking for someone who loves developing other people and can help us build a healthy, home-grown and sustainable ministry.

We are looking for someone who can lead worship confidently from guitar and/or piano/keys, with a broad appreciation of congregational worship - able to draw from the rich heritage of Christian hymnody (including contemporary arrangements), the lyrical and theological depth of writers such as CityAlight, and the best of contemporary charismatic evangelical worship.

We don’t necessarily expect the finished article. You may already have significant experience, or you may be an emerging worship leader ready to take your next step in ministry. What matters most is a love for Jesus and His Church, musical and spiritual credibility, a teachable spirit, and the potential to grow as a leader while helping others grow too.

  • Part-time: 12 hours per week initially, increasing to 15 hours per week alongside the planned move to two Sunday services (currently anticipated September 2027)
  • Salary: £32,000 FTE, pro rata (£9,600 p.a. at 12 hours; £12,000 p.a. at 15 hours), plus 8% employer pension
  • Proposed start date: January 2027
  • Regular Sunday working, staff meetings and liaison with the Worship Pastor at St Barnabas North London

We particularly welcome applications from people who may not tick every box in the person specification but who believe they have the character, gifting and potential to grow into the role.

There is an Occupational Requirement under the Equality Act 2010 for the post-holder to be a committed Christian.

Safer recruitment pre-employment checks will include references, an appropriate DBS check and relevant safeguarding requirements.
