St Paul’s is a lively evangelical Anglican church in Salisbury, committed to combining the best of Word and Spirit - Bible-centred teaching alongside a deep openness to the work of the Holy Spirit. Our ministry reaches far beyond our parish boundaries through worship, discipleship, and a wide range of community initiatives. We are now seeking an Operations Lead to play a central role in enabling all of this to happen.

This is a key role within our Ministry Support Team. The Operations Lead helps ensure that the practical, operational life of the church runs smoothly so that staff, volunteers, and ministry leaders can focus on serving people and sharing the gospel. From facilities and venue hire, to health and safety, IT systems, and supporting major church events, this role touches every part of church life. You will often be the first point of contact for visitors and hirers, and you will play a vital role in shaping the welcome and ethos people experience when they come onto our site.

In practice, this role covers a wide and meaningful range of responsibilities that sit at the very heart of church life, including:

  • Operational Leadership: Lead and oversee operational responsibilities and tasks needed to implement ministry activities of St Paul’s as directed by the Associate Leader. Ensure that operational delivery enables the wider staff and volunteer teams to carry out their ministry effectively.
  • Facilities & Venue Hire: Manage bookings system (ChurchSuite) and liaise with hirers. Raise invoices, control credit, and oversee lettings income strategy. Liaise with cleaner and oversee venue set-up/clear-down. Flag/coordinate maintenance issues with Facilities Lead.
  • Health & Safety and Risk Assessments: Perform the role of Health & Safety Officer, including training volunteers. Ensure compliance with legislation and safe practices (including lifting/room set-ups). Develop and maintain the set of Risk Assessments for ongoing Church Activities.
  • IT Administration: Act as primary administrator for church database and IT systems. Manage user access/security and backups. Liaise with outsourced IT support provider.
  • Administrative Support for HR Processes: Provide support in HR-related processes such as onboarding new staff, maintaining records, and helping to implement systems. This role does not carry formal HR responsibility, which remains with the Associate Leader and designated line managers.
  • General Operational Support: Manage office equipment and coordinate servicing/repairs. Support APCM and other key church events.

We are looking for someone who is organised, positive, and able to lead operational systems with care and professionalism - someone who enjoys enabling others to thrive. You will be comfortable working independently, communicating with a wide range of people, and handling both practical tasks and strategic oversight. Because this role is part of the church staff team, it is also an occupational requirement that the post-holder is a committed Christian, actively living out their faith and fully supportive of the vision and ministry of St Paul’s.

If this sounds like you, we would love to invite you to apply!
