Working closely with the Finance Manager and Treasurer, you will help ensure the faithful stewardship of church finances while also contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of a lively evangelical Anglican church serving Salisbury and beyond.

This role would suit someone with experience in bookkeeping or finance administration who values both precision and people. You will join a supportive staff team committed to prayer, worship and mutual encouragement, and be part of a church that seeks to combine Bible-centred teaching with openness to the work of the Holy Spirit. If you are looking for meaningful work where your skills directly support gospel ministry and community impact, we would love to hear from you!

About the Role: This role is structured as a 24-hour-per-week position, with time intentionally divided across two core areas of responsibility. Approximately 16 hours per week (typically equivalent to two working days) will be focused on finance-related duties, managed by the Finance Manager and working with the Church Treasurer to support the effective stewardship, administration, and reporting of church finances. The remaining 8 hours per week will be dedicated to supporting the wider operational life of the church, working collaboratively with the Church Office Administrator & PA to the Rector and the Operations Lead to ensure the smooth, well-organised running of day-to-day operations.

Finance Responsibilities:
  • Reconcile bank accounts on a regular basis and ensure all income and outgoings are accurately recorded in the Xero accounting system.
  • Process accurate and timely payment of suppliers and processing of expenses.
  • Regular review and follow up on debtors and creditors.
  • Administer the Xero accounting system.
  • Process credit card transactions and deal with banking of cash and petty cash.

  • Support finance process and system developments as required.
  • Support the finance manager and administration team when asked to help cover staff absences.
  • Manage archiving of financial documents.
Wider operations support:

The successful candidate will support the wider Operations Team, working closely with the Operations Lead and Church Administrator. This includes stock control, preparing for large church events (such as the APCM) and covering front of house as needed, as well as other tasks requiring the attention of the wider team.
