Description of Job

Fairfield Church in Northwood Hills is looking for a passionate and dedicated Children and Families Worker to help shape the spiritual growth of the next generation. This is a unique opportunity to build a key ministry that gives every child in our church community the best possible foundation in the Christian faith, from their earliest years through to Youth ministry and beyond, into higher education or the workplace.

The childhood and early teenage years are formative for lasting faith, and we want to make the most of them. You will work alongside families, volunteers and our Ministry Leadership Team (MLT) to nurture faith that lasts a lifetime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching programme: designing and delivering an engaging, age-appropriate teaching programme for our children's ministry.
  • Programme review: reviewing existing children's activities and events to make sure they align with our vision for children's work.
  • Volunteer support: mobilising, equipping and supporting our volunteer team, including regular meetings for feedback, encouragement and prayer.
  • Family partnership: building strong relationships with parents and carers, recognising that many children are raised in multi-generational settings involving grandparents, aunts, uncles, family friends and older siblings.
  • Resourcing parents: creating resources, training, discussion groups and social events that support and equip parents and carers, including those still growing in their own faith.
  • Youth transition: liaising closely with the Youth ministry team so that children moving up from Children's ministry are handed over with care and continuity.

What We're Looking For

  • A genuine heart for children, families and their spiritual growth
  • Experience in children's ministry, teaching, youth work, education or a related field
  • Strong relational and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with children, parents and volunteers
  • A collaborative approach, and comfort working as part of a wider ministry leadership team
  • Creativity and initiative in developing programmes, resources and events
  • A mature, committed Christian faith and a passion for discipling the next generation

Why Join Fairfield Church?

We currently have a regular congregation size of approximately 110 adults and approximately 30 participants in the existing children's and youth ministry.

We are a church that looks to partner with our staff to fulfil their calling and provide training and development opportunities that will benefit their growth both during their time with us and beyond.

Safeguarding and Occupational Requirement

This post requires an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. Fairfield Church is committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.

The applicant must have the right to live and work in the UK – we can not provide visa sponsorship for the position.

We are an independent evangelical church in North West London - who completely and whole-heartedly believe that everything revolves around Jesus Christ - who he is and what he's done. The whole of human history depends upon his claims, his action, and his death and resurrection.
