St Michael le Belfrey Church, known as The Belfrey, is a large, vibrant, York city-centre church with a deep desire for renewal, spiritual growth, and mission to our city. We are a Charismatic, Evangelical, Anglican Resource Church in the Diocese of York.
The Belfrey is a growing and dynamic community of around 500 people whose ages range from newborn to those in their nineties. We are followers of Jesus. We gather as a Word and Spirit-led church seeking God’s presence and his healing, wholeness, restoration, and transformation for the people of York and the North of England.
This is an exciting and historic time for The Belfrey as we near the end of a major building project to renovate and reorder our 500-year-old church building, which is located right next door to York Minster.
We are seeking a Priest-in-Charge (Vicar designate) who is prayerful, grounded in Scripture and open to the leading of the Holy Spirit. We seek someone who will be present and involved in all our services, building community across all age groups, and leading on vision, worship, discipleship, pastoral care and culture.
We offer:
- Prayerful support.
- A large congregation of people of all ages who love Jesus, worship him passionately, honour his Word, serve him whole-heartedly, and want to see his kingdom come.
- An established and experienced staff team.
- Enthusiastic and committed volunteers.
- Housing in a vicarage near the city centre.
