River College is a one-year internship programme for those who want to go deeper in their discipleship, grow in their leadership, and gain first-hand experience of ministry.

Are you looking to grow your leadership gifts? Taking a gap year before or after university? Exploring a call to ministry? Our 'River College' internship based at River Church Ipswich, a fast-growing, diverse, HTB Network city centre resource church is perfect for you!

Choose one or more of our seven streams, based on the skills and gifts you hope to develop:

  • KIDS
  • COMMS AND MEDIA
  • OPERATIONS
  • SOCIAL TRANSFORMATION
  • STUDENTS AND YOUTH
  • WORSHIP AND PRODUCTION
  • SPORTS

At River College we want to help release life-changing leadership in our students. Over our one-year course, through a mixture of classroom teaching in theology and Biblical studies, training in leadership, mentoring from our senior staff team, and practical experience on one of our internship streams, River College students will discover and develop their God-given gifts, ready to transform our church, our town, our nation, and beyond.

Students will also benefit from teaching from a wide variety of expert contributors, have opportunities to train and serve as baristas at our Coffee Shop, and receive free books and team tickets to HTB Focus (our annual church festival). River College is completely free because we are passionate about investing in young Christian leaders.

A typical week at River College involves serving on team on Sundays, teaching on Mondays, prayer meeting, staff meeting, and Alpha on Tuesdays, and serving in your specific streams one other day per week, but every intern is different and we will work to create a tailored programme for you.

We may be able to offer some limited financial support for River College interns, depending on your circumstances and availability. We do encourage interns to seek some part-time work alongside River College, and we may be able to help you find suitable work locally.
