All Saints has for a long time been a church which prioritises youth and children\’s work. We have a vibrant youth ministry including apprenticeships, mentoring, life groups, student-led schools ministry, cafe church, and Sunday morning groups. Annually we go to a festival, and every couple of years take the young people on mission trips, the most recent one being to Mexico.
The church is charismatic, evangelical, has a strong history of affiliation with New Wine, and is friendly and full of energy. We are one of the few churches in Durham Diocese with significant numbers of young people on a Sunday and during the week, and we love to see young people grow to love Jesus and to see all He can do in and through them. In this next season of the life of the church, we want to grow in evangelism and discipleship, reaching out to more young people through more involvement in schools and potentially youth kintsugi and kick. We are looking to build on the detached skate park outreach to do as Jesus did and go to those who need Him. If this is the role God has for you, He will lead you in innovating how else we might reach young people well.
Discipleship is also core to the ministry here. The tagline for the youth ministry has been \’Becoming lifelong followers of Jesus\’. We would love to see the successful candidate take our boys deeper in faith as well as helping all to discover and flourish in their gifts.
Through Durham Diocese, we have applied to be a Youth Hub and await a decision which would allow you to help appoint an assistant youth pastor, enabling you to coach other youth pastors and volunteers in other churches as well as growing our provision and community impact.
A great benefit of the ministry here is our partnership with Tees Valley Youth For Christ. We have worked with them in providing Doulos (area-wide discipleship scheme), and TVYFC staff often help in our youth ministry. We have had an intern through them most years, and the current intern is for the first time from the UK, having come up through our youth ministry.
As you can hear, strong foundations have been laid, and we are looking for someone to innovate, lead the team in reaching more young people with the life-changing news of Jesus, and help those who know/come to know Him become all He wants them to be. We are a church that cares deeply for its staff, and our staff tell us they are well supported and have what they need in prayer, encouragement, and training to enable them to grow. The salary is part of a pay scale and is subject to experience; this is a permanent role.
