Responsibilities
As an Outreach Tutor, you will play a vital role in providing education and mentoring to students who do not attend mainstream education due to reasons such as SEN, SEMH, or risk of permanent exclusion.
This role involves
- Providing personalised tutoring sessions to students of diverse ages and abilities.
- Inspiring and motivating students to overcome obstacles and achieve their academic goals.
- Building strong connections with students and their families through clear communication and genuine care.
- Adapting teaching methods to suit the unique learning styles and needs of each student.
- Incorporating cutting‑edge educational technology and resources to enhance the learning experience.
- Conducting one‑to‑one and group sessions in basic Maths, English, PSHE, interventions, and mentoring at pupils’ homes, local libraries, and schools.
- Ensuring students progress from EYFS to Year 11, up to GCSE/Functional Skills levels.
- Maintaining an updated Enhanced DBS record at all times.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in tutoring or teaching, especially with diverse age groups. (Required)
- QTS (QTLS), PGCE, or a Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Maths, or a related field. (Preferred but not essential)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for student success.
- Flexibility to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs.
- Clear understanding of Literacy and Maths, with experience working with children including those with SEND.
