Management Accountant

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of key financial processes, providing accurate insight, robust forecasting and effective financial controls that enable operational teams and senior leaders to make confident decisions.

The Role

As Management Accountant, you will

  • Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and supporting financial reports.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, producing regular forecasts and providing clear analysis to senior management.
  • Monitor actual performance against budgets, investigating variances and identifying financial risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare year-end schedules, reconciliations and supporting documentation for external audit, working closely with auditors and external accountants.
  • Monitor financial performance across care operations, including occupancy, fee income, payroll, agency expenditure and operational costs.
  • Produce cash-flow forecasts and support effective working-capital management.
  • Complete and oversee balance-sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and other month-end processes.
  • Develop robust financial controls, reporting processes and systems to support continued organisational growth.
  • Provide meaningful financial information to Directors and operational leaders, translating financial data into clear commercial insight.
  • Partner with care and operational managers to improve budget ownership, cost control and financial understanding.
  • Support financial planning around staffing, investment, fee structures, service development and business growth.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and support strong standards of governance, accountability and compliance.

About You

  • You will ideally be an experienced Management Accountant or finance professional with:
  • Strong management accounting, budgeting and forecasting experience.
  • Experience preparing accounts and supporting the year-end audit process.
  • Excellent financial analysis and reporting skills.
  • Strong Excel and financial systems knowledge.
  • The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance managers.
  • A commercial mindset combined with excellent attention to detail.
  • The confidence to challenge constructively and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Experience within healthcare, social care, multi-site services or another regulated environment would be highly advantageous.
  • A professional accountancy qualification or relevant part-qualification would be advantageous.
