Head of Learning Disability Care Services

New Way Recruitment is seeking an experienced and values-led Head of Learning Disability Care Services to provide strategic and operational leadership across adult social care services supporting people with learning disabilities.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an established Head of Service, Regional Manager, Operations Manager or senior Learning Disability professional who is passionate about delivering exceptional, person-centred care while driving strong governance, compliance, performance and service improvement.
The Role
You will provide strategic oversight across Learning Disability services, supporting operational leaders to deliver safe, effective and high-quality care while ensuring services remain compliant, financially sustainable and focused on positive outcomes.
Key responsibilities:
Provide strategic and operational leadership across Learning Disability care services.
Lead and develop Registered Managers and operational leadership teams.
Ensure consistently high standards of person-centred care, safeguarding and service delivery.
Maintain strong oversight of CQC compliance, governance, quality assurance and regulatory readiness.
Drive continuous improvement across service quality, performance and outcomes.
Monitor KPIs, audits, incidents, complaints, safeguarding and other quality indicators, ensuring appropriate action is taken.
Develop clear improvement plans and provide hands on support where services require additional leadership or intervention.
Ensure robust risk management, safeguarding and incident management processes.
Build positive relationships with commissioners, local authorities, families, professionals and other key stakeholders.
Support workforce development, leadership capability, recruitment and retention.
Promote a positive, accountable and compassionate organisational culture.
Oversee operational and financial performance, including occupancy, staffing and resource utilisation.
Identify opportunities for service development and sustainable growth.
Work collaboratively with Quality, Compliance, HR and Finance teams to strengthen overall organisational performance.
Provide senior leadership reporting, insight and recommendations to support strategic decision making.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Head of Learning Disability Services, Head of Care, Regional Manager, Operations Manager, Registered Manager or senior adult social care leader with a strong background in Learning Disability services.
You will ideally have:
Significant senior leadership experience within adult social care and Learning Disability services.
Strong knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding, governance and quality assurance.
Experience leading multiple services, Registered Managers or geographically dispersed teams.
A proven track record of service improvement and operational leadership.
Strong understanding of person-centred support and positive outcomes for people with learning disabilities.
Experience managing performance, risk, workforce and financial considerations.
Confidence working with commissioners, local authorities and senior stakeholders.
Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulatory expectations and best practice.
Excellent leadership, communication and relationship building skills.
A compassionate, visible and values led leadership style.
The ability to balance quality, compliance, people and commercial performance.
