The Role

The Operations Lead will provide leadership of the staff team and oversight of the operational systems that enable the life, ministry, and strategic growth of the church. This role is both strategic and practical, combining leadership responsibility with hands-on involvement, including practical oversight of our building.

We are a small, collaborative, and versatile staff team, and this role will work closely across multiple areas of church life. As a senior role, the Operations Lead will also carry a pastoral and church leadership dimension. We are keen to adapt the shape of the role to suit the ministry gifts of the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

Staff Leadership

  • Contribute to maintaining a strong & healthy staff culture in line with Frontline Church values
  • Support the staff team overseeing goal-setting, review processes, training, and development
  • Liaise with our HR advisor to lead on recruitment, onboarding, and performance management

Building and Operations Management

  • Manage and develop the church building, including overseeing maintenance, compliance, and long-term planning.
  • Oversee procurement and maintenance of equipment.
  • Liaise with our Health and Safety advisor to ensure full legal compliance relating to the building, including health and safety, fire safety, and accessibility.
  • Apply for and manage grants as required to support church development.

Church Leadership and Pastoral Contribution

  • Serve and lead within the church community in line with your gifting, which may include contributions to Sunday services, mid-week gatherings, or pastoral care.
  • Contribute to the wider leadership of the church body as appropriate to experience and calling.

Hours and Salary

  • Full-time: 37.5 hours per week (although we are open to part-time for the right candidate)
  • Working Sunday-Thursday, with some requirement for flexible and evening working
  • Salary: £33,000 – £36,000 pro rata

Benefits

  • 25 days annual leave (pro rata)
  • An additional 1 day of leave per year for the first 5 years of service, up to a maximum of 30 days (pro rata)
  • An additional 3 days leave at Christmas

Occupational Requirement

This role has an Occupational Requirement to be a Christian, as permitted under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
