We are looking for a Surgical First Assistant (SFA) to join our Bank Theatres Team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected hospital and work within a supportive and skilled multidisciplinary theatre team. The ideal candidate will be motivated, professional, and committed to delivering the highest standards of perioperative care.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- To assist consultants in theatre as a Surgical First Assistant, working across a variety of surgical specialties, including orthopaedics.
- To deliver safe, high quality perioperative care in accordance with New Victoria Hospital policies and relevant clinical guidelines.
- To maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with professional and legal standards.
- To contribute to a safe, efficient theatre environment and support theatre colleagues as part of a cohesive team.
- To demonstrate excellent communication, organisational ability and a commitment to best patient outcomes.
Requirements
Knowledge
- Strong understanding of relevant clinical and professional standards.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Good IT literacy.
- Understanding of legal and professional practice requirements within perioperative care.
Experience
- Previous experience working as a Surgical First Assistant.
Qualifications
- ODP Level 3 or Registered Nurse.
- HCPC Registration (for ODPs) or NMC Registration (for nurses).
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
