We are looking for a Surgical First Assistant (SFA) to join our Bank Theatres Team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected hospital and work within a supportive and skilled multidisciplinary theatre team. The ideal candidate will be motivated, professional, and committed to delivering the highest standards of perioperative care.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • To assist consultants in theatre as a Surgical First Assistant, working across a variety of surgical specialties, including orthopaedics.
  • To deliver safe, high quality perioperative care in accordance with New Victoria Hospital policies and relevant clinical guidelines.
  • To maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with professional and legal standards.
  • To contribute to a safe, efficient theatre environment and support theatre colleagues as part of a cohesive team.
  • To demonstrate excellent communication, organisational ability and a commitment to best patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Knowledge
    • Strong understanding of relevant clinical and professional standards.
    • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
    • Good IT literacy.
    • Understanding of legal and professional practice requirements within perioperative care.
  • Experience
    • Previous experience working as a Surgical First Assistant.
  • Qualifications
    • ODP Level 3 or Registered Nurse.
    • HCPC Registration (for ODPs) or NMC Registration (for nurses).
    • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
