My client, an established small firm of Quantity Surveying consultants, seeks a Quantity Surveyor at either Project Surveyor or Senior Surveyor level to join them in their City of London office.

You should be able to run your own projects as a Quantity Surveyor and ideally manage several projects concurrently, working closely with clients, architects, and interior designers. Projects are varied and will include retail and fit-out for flagship stores and offices, sports clubs, and high-end residential projects.

The candidate should be a Quantity Surveyor currently working for a UK firm of PQS. My client would like someone at either Project Surveyor level or Senior Surveyor level. You do not need to be chartered but should have good experience of both pre and post contract work, including contract administration.

You should be able to take ownership of selected live projects from throughout the project right through to handover and completion. Experience in cost plans, tender documentation, and undertaking tender analysis is required. You need some experience in managing contractor procurement and providing recommendations to the client. A recognised UK qualification in Quantity Surveying (e.g., BSc in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or similar) and around 2 plus years of experience ideally with a PQS is necessary. Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, are essential to deal with people at all levels. A stable work record is also important.

Salary is in the region of £50,000 to £60,000 at Project Surveyor level and £60,000 to £70,000 for senior level QS, plus a bonus generally up to 5%, pension, RICS fees, etc.
