Our client is a long-established specialist contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering high quality landscaping, public realm, external works and rooftop garden projects across London and the South East. Working with leading developers, main contractors and blue-chip clients, they deliver a diverse range of schemes, from prestigious commercial and residential developments through to public realm improvements, landscape enhancement projects and large-scale tree planting programmes. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to strengthen their commercial team with the appointment of a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor.

The Role

Reporting to the Commercial Director and working alongside an experienced Quantity Surveyor, you will be involved in the full commercial management of projects ranging from £100k to £2.5m. This role would suit someone who enjoys the detail of quantity surveying and takes pride in the commercial management of projects from procurement through to final account. The successful candidate will play a key role within a close knit commercial team and will be given the opportunity to take ownership of projects whilst contributing to the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement and management of subcontractor packages
  • Preparation and submission of valuations
  • Variation management and change control
  • Cost reporting and forecasting
  • Commercial management throughout the project lifecycle
  • Contract administration under JCT and NEC contracts
  • Measurement and take-offs from drawings
  • Reviewing technical information and project documentation
  • Liaising with operational and project delivery teams

Requirements

  • Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor
  • Previous experience within a subcontractor environment
  • Landscaping, external works, civils or groundworks experience preferred
  • Strong procurement and commercial management skills
  • Experience carrying out take-offs and measurements from drawings
  • Bluebeam experience highly desirable
  • Knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
