A well-established, privately owned housebuilder is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a £20m+ residential development in Maidstone. This is a long-term, site-based opportunity offering exposure to a full project lifecycle on a large scheme, rather than being restricted to a small package as is often the case within a PLC environment.
You’ll work closely with an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor, gaining hands-on experience across all commercial functions and building a strong platform for career progression.
Key Responsibilities- Supporting the Senior Quantity Surveyor with day-to-day commercial duties
- Assisting with procurement of subcontractor packages
- Helping prepare valuations, cost reports, and forecasts
- Assisting with variation management and change control
- Supporting subcontractor account management and payments
- Attending site and commercial meetings
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and documentation
- Experience working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor within construction or housebuilding
- Main contractor or housebuilder background preferred
- Strong desire to gain site-based experience on a large project
- Good communication, organisational, and numerical skills
- Ambitious, proactive, and keen to progress
- Exposure to a £20m+ residential scheme from early stages through to completion
- Broader responsibility than typically offered within a PLC role
- Direct mentoring from a Senior Quantity Surveyor
- Long-term project stability (2+ years)
- Clear career progression within a growing, non-PLC business
- Salary: £35k - £45k + package (DOE) (Experience dependant)
