We are looking for a knowledgeable and proactive officer to lead a broad range of information governance matters, helping ensure compliance, manage risk, and support the effective use of information across the organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who thrives on working independently, influencing stakeholders, and providing specialist advice in a complex environment.

As our Information Governance Officer, you will be the organisation’s subject matter expert, providing professional advice and guidance to managers, employees and senior leaders.

You will:

  • Lead of FOI and Data Protection requests
  • Provide expert advice on UK GDPR, Data Protection legislation and information governance best practice
  • Support the development, implementation and review of information governance policies, procedures and frameworks
  • Investigate and manage information governance breaches and compliance concerns
  • Deliver guidance and training to improve organisation awareness and compliance
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory development, ensuring the organisation remains compliant
  • Work collaboratively with services
  • Identify risks, make recommendations and drive continuous improvement

We are looking for a confident and experienced professional who can operate with a high degree of autonomy and professional judgement. The successful candidate will have strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the confidence to provide expert advice and professional challenge where required. They will be able to interpret complex legislation and communicate it clearly to a range of audiences, whilst building effective relationships with stakeholders. The role requires someone who can work independently, manage competing priorities, and produce high-quality reports and guidance, demonstrating integrity, discretion and attention to detail, at all times.

Essential knowledge and experience necessary:

  • Strong working knowledge of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, Freedom of Information legislation and wider Information Governance requirements.
  • Experience of managing complex information requests and advising on compliance matters.
  • Experience of interpreting legislation and applying it pragmatically within an organisational setting.
  • Experience of investigating data breaches and information governance incidents.

We understand that talented candidates value flexibility. We offer a hybrid working approach and are open to discussing arrangements for the right candidate, balancing organisational needs with individual circumstances.
