We are looking for a qualified, experienced and dedicated trading standards professional to join our busy team here at the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead. This is a full-time, permanent role with hybrid working, and a salary of £39,526 to £50,446 per annum.

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM) is set in the wider county of Berkshire, one of the most economically productive and innovative areas of the country. The Role:

  • Reporting to the Trading Standards Team Leader, this role will give you the opportunity to experience, administer and enforce the full range of trading standards legislation.
  • This includes working at major events such as Royal Ascot and events associated with Windsor Castle.
  • Weights and measures, animal health and petroleum knowledge and experience are particularly welcomed.
  • Your role will involve:
    • Investigating alleged offences under the legislation up to and including preparing prosecution reports and giving evidence in court.
    • Investigating complaints.
    • Advising businesses and consumers.
    • Conducting compliance checks and inspections.
    • Initiating and carrying out projects.

What we are looking for:

  • A trading standards qualification.
  • Experience of enforcing the full range of trading standards legislation.
  • Sound inspection, investigation and research skills.
  • Experience and ability to take enforcement and legal action, including PACE interviewing, preparation of evidence and prosecution reports, the issuing of fixed penalty notices.
  • The ability to relate to and communicate effectively with people at all levels and in a variety of media, forums and situations, including the ability to deal with conflict situations.
