We want Somerset's children and young people to be able to move through the world without having to force their way through it. That means improving our SEND system. In response to the Education White Paper, we are developing an ambitious SEND Reform Plan for Somerset. This role will lead the delivery of the new Experts at Hand model, placement sufficiency and future partnership.

Responsibilities

  • You will work with the full range of stakeholders – from senior colleagues to system partners – to generate insights and develop a shared, practical roadmap for improvement.
  • The role is broad and influential, requiring you to bring energy and inspiration to transforming the service and enhancing the experience of the young people we support.

Qualifications

  • A track record of delivering lasting change in frontline service, ideally within Children's Services, and a deep knowledge of inclusion and the SEND system.
  • You must have strong organisational and financial skills and be able to bring together policymakers and experts in a rewarding way.
  • Commitment to a consultative, co‐producing and appreciative approach, personal optimism and resilience to tackle complex issues are essential.
