We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual to join us as Head of Service for our Neighbourhood Services Team.

The post will be based at our Depot in Oadby and this part of Leicestershire is a great place to live, work and visit. Our council is a great organisation to work for, we offer a competitive salary and fantastic benefits including great holiday, flexi-time and the generous local government pension scheme. Agile working allows employees to work flexibly to balance their home and work needs; however, the nature of the job will mean the person is required to be office based at least three days a week.

The Neighbourhood Services Team is responsible for waste management, grounds maintenance, fleet services, and corporate assets.

The Head of Neighbourhood Services will play a pivotal role in leading the delivery of a core group of essential frontline services that directly impact the quality of life for residents. With a focus on waste management, grounds maintenance, fleet services, and corporate assets, this role will oversee the strategic direction and continued transformation of these vital functions whilst ensuring operational efficiency and continuous improvement. You will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team at Oadby & Wigston Council.

If you have:

  1. Experience in a senior management role within a local authority or similar environment.
  2. In-depth understanding of waste management services, and/or grounds maintenance, fleet management, and corporate assets.
  3. Understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and regulations governing local government operations, particularly in areas related to neighbourhood services.
  4. Experience in budget management, resource allocation, and financial planning within a public sector setting.
  5. Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of developing and implementing effective strategies to improve service delivery and achieve objectives.
