We are currently recruiting a Customer Services Assistant based within our Dunmow Library. This is a part-time position working 11 hours per week and includes working every Saturday. The pro rata salary will be Β£7,718 per annum.

This role will be based at Dunmow Library and will require travel throughout the local area; you could work at different Libraries throughout Uttlesford including Stansted, Saffron Walden, and Thaxted.

The Role: You'll join a service that is undergoing change. Libraries around the UK are evolving to meet the differing demands of our customers. You'll support with book circulation and issuing, signpost customers to different services and be our ears and eyes for what makes the difference to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Helping people and providing excellent customer service.
  • Arranging and conducting Rhymetime, an inclusive session for families with babies and toddlers.
  • Ensuring Health & Safety standards are met.
  • Assisting with promotional activities to generate income.
  • Helping customers use the library catalogue and learn about the full library offer.
  • Ensuring seamless stock circulation and management.
  • Being a trusted keyholder for smaller libraries.
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Demonstration of IT skills or the ability to learn.
  • Customer service experience in any area.
  • Confidence in speaking to customers and signposting them to services.
  • Enthusiasm and ideas.
  • Enjoy working within a team.
  • Possession of a Driving Licence.
