As part of our team, you will support the leadership team in building a modern, resilient, and sustainable aviation hub that serves the regions and sets new standards for environmental responsibility.

About the role:

The Airfield Project Manager will lead the planning and delivery of airfield-related capital, renewal, and improvement projects across Doncaster Sheffield Airport. The role supports safe, compliant, and resilient aerodrome operations, ensuring projects align with aerodrome certification requirements, aviation regulation, and the wider strategic objectives for the DSA site. Operating within a live and safety‑critical airfield environment, the postholder will manage projects covering runways, taxiways, aprons, airfield ground lighting (AGL), drainage, fencing, and associated infrastructure, delivering to agreed scope, budget, programme, and quality standards while minimising disruption to aircraft movements and airport operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of airfield infrastructure projects from business case through to delivery, commissioning, and handover.
  • Ensure all projects are planned and delivered in compliance with CAA requirements, ICAO standards, aerodrome licence conditions, health & safety legislation, and the Airport Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Apply robust project governance, cost control, programme management, and reporting arrangements in line with airport and corporate frameworks.
  • Work closely with Airfield Operations, Airport Operations, ATC, Engineering & Asset Management, and Safety & Compliance teams to safely integrate works into live airfield operations.
  • Lead engagement with contractors, consultants, and specialist suppliers to ensure coordinated, safe, and timely delivery.
  • Identify and manage project risks, dependencies, and constraints, providing proportionate and compliant solutions in a complex operational environment.

The successful candidate

You will bring proven experience in the delivery of airfield, aviation, transport, or infrastructure projects in a regulated operational environment, with a strong understanding of aerodrome operations, airfield infrastructure, and aviation regulatory frameworks (e.g. ICAO, CAA). You will have a sound knowledge of project and programme management methodologies and their practical application, along with a thorough understanding of health and safety legislation, CDM regulations and contract management in live environments. You will have a strong commitment to safety, compliance and operational resilience, coupled with a solution focused mindset and excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

In return for your hard work and dedication, we can offer you the chance to be part of a great team dedicated to ensuring that Doncaster Sheffield Airport thrives. You will also have access to a variety of attractive employee benefits including competitive leave entitlement and a generous pension scheme.
