Location: Twickenham / Homeworking hybrid

The role involves delivering an essential frontline service, helping to administer Council Tax accounts for nearly 250,000 properties across Richmond and Wandsworth. You will be part of a busy, supportive team responsible for maintaining accurate records, processing changes, and ensuring residents receive an efficient and professional service.

About the Role

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Council Tax Service by undertaking high-volume administrative processing and routine account maintenance activities.
  • Maintaining accurate customer records and account information.
  • Responding to customer correspondence and enquiries by telephone, email and written communication.
  • Investigating and resolving account queries in accordance with legislation and Council policies.
  • Working closely with colleagues across Revenues, Benefits and other Council services.
  • Supporting the delivery of annual billing and other key service activities.
  • Contributing to service improvement initiatives to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of working in a customer-focused environment.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Good IT skills, including experience of Microsoft Office applications.
  • The ability to interpret information and make sound decisions.

Previous experience in Council Tax, Revenues, Benefits or a similar local government environment would be advantageous but is not essential for candidates who can demonstrate transferable skills and a willingness to learn.
