As a Graduate Project Trainee, you will support the delivery of high-impact programmes across transformation agendas within local government, gaining hands-on experience from the start. Through a structured two-year programme, you will rotate across the Transformation Team, working alongside experienced project professionals.
Responsibilities
- Support planning and coordination activities for programmes and projects.
- Maintain project documentation and assist with governance and reporting.
- Monitor project progress, manage risks and issues, and ensure efficient delivery.
- Assist in maintaining project controls and producing project reports.
- Facilitate meetings, workshops, and reviews with stakeholders.
- Monitor specific project spend and support business case sign-off.
- Draft governance documents such as business cases.
- Identify potential risks, recommend mitigation and raise escalation.
- Lead specific workstreams within projects, managing time, cost and constraints.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree level in any discipline or equivalent qualification.
- Evidence of continuing professional development and professional membership (e.g., HCPC, CIPD).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
- Strong communication skills at all levels.
- Cooperative team working and results-focused approach.
- Willingness to develop solutions to challenges.
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for agile environments.
- Basic understanding of project management principles.
Interview Process
Shortlisted candidates will complete a one-way video interview, followed by an in-person assessment centre in Chelmsford. Successful candidates may attend a final MS Teams interview.
