Housing is a key political and corporate priority and this is an exciting time to join us, leading and shaping a critical division within our housing directorate.
Reporting to the recently appointed Executive Director of Housing, you will be a key member of our newly formed directorate leadership team, providing strategic and operational leadership across housing property services including repairs and maintenance, mechanical and electrical, compliance and building safety, planned investment and new build delivery. You will lead the delivery of significant capital investment programmes and the revenue repairs budget, applying excellent governance frameworks to ensure regulatory compliance and achieve value for money and strong performance. We are committed to driving service improvement at pace, strengthening performance management, and embedding a resident‑focused culture that builds trust through delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Lead strategic and operational leadership across housing property services including repairs, maintenance, mechanical and electrical, compliance and building safety, planned investment, and new build delivery.
- Deliver significant capital investment programmes and manage the revenue repairs budget.
- Apply governance frameworks to ensure regulatory compliance and achieve value for money.
- Drive service improvement, strengthen performance management and embed a resident‑focused culture.
- Partner with in‑house teams and externally contracted partners to ensure effective mixed‑delivery models.
- Ambitious and credible leader with operational understanding of repairs and capital delivery in social housing.
- Strong grasp of building safety and compliance.
- Track record of leading transformation through mixed delivery models.
- Experience in a large council landlord environment with substantial portfolio (e.g., >27,000 homes).
- Ability to embed a resident‑focused culture and deliver trust‑building services.
