Meals-on-Wheels Driver – Hertfordshire

Newstaff Employment is hiring Meals-on-Wheels Drivers in Hertfordshire to join a well-established Community Care Team. This rewarding role involves delivering hot meals to vulnerable, elderly, and disabled clients across the county, while providing a caring presence and helping to support independent living. If you hold a full UK driving licence and a valid DBS check, this is a great opportunity to make a real difference in your community.

📍 Location: St Albans (AL3 5BU), Hemel (HP2 4EU), Hertford (SG13 7BH), Letchworth (SG6 1HB)
💷 Salary: £14.00 per hour weekdays, £14.50 per hour weekends (paid a minimum of 4 hours per shift)
⏰ Working Hours: Shifts between 11 am – 2 pm, various days available (weekend availability essential)
📌 Job Type: Part-time, ongoing

  • Deliver hot meals to clients in line with company delivery procedures.
  • Review and update daily round sheets, noting new clients or changes.
  • Provide friendly, courteous, and confidential service to all clients.
  • Monitor clients’ well-being and report any concerns promptly to the Support Team.
  • Follow the company’s “no reply” procedure where needed.
  • Collect and return cheque payments securely.
  • Accurately record meal preferences, cancellations, and access details.
  • Complete daily vehicle safety checks, including mileage and meal temperatures.
  • Drive safely, adhering to the Highway Code at all times.
  • Assist on delivery rounds as an escort if required.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure roadworthiness.
  • Report accidents, offences, or licence changes immediately.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, Food Safety, and company policies.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Enhanced DBS check.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable, caring, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently while following structured routes.
  • Flexibility to work weekends as part of your rota.
