A vacancy has arisen within a busy precision engineering environment due to increased workload and the retirement of a long-serving team member. This is an opportunity to join a modern, well-equipped machine shop specialising in high-precision components for a range of industries.
The role is within the Turning department and will involve working on a brand-new CNC lathe with bar feed in an air-conditioned facility.
Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 07:30 – 16:30
- Friday: 07:30 – 13:30
Overtime is available depending on workload.
Key Responsibilities
- Programming, setting, and operating CNC turning machines
- Producing components to tight tolerances and high-quality standards
- Understanding and applying turning methods for efficient and stable production
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- Monitoring tool wear and carrying out adjustments/replacements as required
- Self-inspection of work in line with ISO 9001 quality procedures
- Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with company standards
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment
- Supporting safe working practices at all times
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a CNC Turner / Setter / Programmer
- Strong knowledge of CNC turning processes and manufacturing techniques
- Ability to independently set and operate CNC lathes to a high standard
- Familiarity with Fanuc controls (or similar CNC systems)
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications
- Good machining knowledge and planning ability
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Reliable, well-organised, and a strong team player
- Ability to work using own initiative with minimal supervision
Additional Information
- Permanent position
- Competitive salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per year (depending on experience)
- Day shift, Monday to Friday
- On-site parking available
