Our client is a respected and internationally active organisation operating within the commercial aviation aftermarket sector. The business specialises in aircraft, engine, and component asset management and support services, working with airlines, lessors, MROs, and aviation partners globally.

Due to continued growth and strategic expansion, the company is seeking an experienced aviation professional to lead and develop its engine trading and acquisition activities.

About the Role

This is a newly created senior-level position reporting directly to executive leadership. The successful candidate will take ownership of the company’s engine trading activities, overseeing both existing inventory management and future acquisition strategy. The role will play a key part in driving revenue growth, identifying market opportunities, and strengthening relationships across the aviation aftermarket sector.

The position requires a commercially driven individual with strong technical understanding, market awareness, and an established industry network within the powerplant and engine materials sector. The Business Development Manager – Engines will manage the full project lifecycle relating to the acquisition, teardown, trading, repair management, and resale of engines and engine components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate new business opportunities relating to engine and engine material trading
  • Manage projects involving the purchase, sale, repair, and commercial management of engines and associated components
  • Support strategic acquisition decisions aligned with company growth objectives
  • Evaluate market opportunities and identify value within available engine assets and material
  • Maintain and expand relationships with airlines, lessors, MROs, brokers, and other aviation stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to support wider commercial and operational objectives
  • Contribute to airframe asset appraisals supporting aircraft teardown and asset management programmes
  • Monitor market trends, supply and demand, and competitor activity to identify commercial opportunities
  • Represent the business at industry events, conferences, and trade shows
  • Travel internationally to meet customers and industry partners as required

Candidate Requirements

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Extensive experience in engine trading and engine material sales within the aviation aftermarket sector
  • Strong understanding of commercial powerplant markets
  • Proven track record of achieving or exceeding revenue and gross profit targets
  • Excellent commercial awareness and industry knowledge
  • Strong negotiation, prospecting, and relationship management skills
  • Ability to identify and execute complex trading opportunities
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and multitasking capability
  • Experience with sales forecasting and commercial data analysis
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel

Desirable

  • Experience with regional and widebody engine platforms
  • Technical understanding of engine teardown, rebuild, and material management strategies
  • Existing global aviation aftermarket network and customer relationships
